How do peels work?
Peels are comprised of either chemicals or fruit acids that react with and peel away the top layer(s) of skin. The body then replaces these layers with new skin that is healthy and younger looking. Depending on the nature and concentration of the ingredients, peels can remove only very superficial layers or penetrate deep into the skin.
Do peels hurt?
Simply You is proud to offer the Cosmedix™ line of non-wounding peels. Traditionally, chemical peels are designed to cause the skin to blister and then peel away. This process was found to be painful and usually required downtime for the patient.
Our non-traumatic peels succeed by stimulating healthy change. Very little discomfort is felt during the procedure. Your skin may flake slightly but should never burn, become inflamed, or blister.
Who is a candidate for Peels?
Individuals with the following concerns would be prime candidates
for peels:
- Hyperpigmentation - discoloration, age spots, or sun damage
- Uneven Texture or Tone - roughness or blotchiness
- Acne Scarring (non severe)
- Large Pores
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Dull skin
What can I expect from Peels at Simply You?
The skin is cleansed thoroughly to remove any excess oils. The peel is massaged into the skin to ensure deep penetration and sun block is applied. Because our peels are self-neutralizing (they are formulated to turn themselves off) and virtually invisible on the skin, the patient can actually leave the clinic with the peel on their face.
