How does Microdermabrasion work?

Microdermabrasion, first developed in Italy by two plastic surgeons in the 80's, is a non-invasive, safe procedure that resurfaces up to 6 layers of the Epidermis (the top layer of the skin). Fine crystals are sprayed over the skin, removing the dead and damaged top layers.

The cells beneath these layers believe they are under attack and are prompted to produce more collagen and elastin. The crystals are then vacuumed off of the skin. This suction of the skin increases circulation and cell metabolism, also promoting collagen and elastin growth.

The deep exfoliation helps to pull hyperpigmentation (dark spots or discoloration) from the deeper layers of the skin. Fine lines and wrinkles are combated by both the exfoliation and promotion of collagen and elastin.

Does Microdermabrasion hurt?

Microdermabrasion should never be painful. Most patients compare the sensation to that of being licked by a cat.

Who is a candidate for Microdermabrasion?

Individuals with the following concerns would be prime candidates
for Microdermabrasion:

• Hyperpigmentation - discoloration, age spots, or sun damage
• Uneven Texture or Tone - roughness or blotchiness
• Acne Scarring (non severe)
• Large Pores
• Fine Lines and Wrinkles
• Loss of elasticity - sagging of the skin

What can I expect from Microdermabrasion at Simply You?

Your skin is cleansed thoroughly to remove any excess oils. The crystals are sprayed onto the skin in a slow, steady pattern and then removed via vacuum suction.

A calming mask is applied to the skin to hydrate and soothe. The treatment is ended with a moisturizer and SPF 30 (sun block).
